What is OneSkin Peptide?
OneSkin was founded by four female scientists who have their PhDs in stem cell biology, skin regeneration and immunology. Their goal was to create a product line that enhances how skin functions so that it stays healthier and more resilient as we age. They targeted cellular senescence (one of the main drivers behind skin aging) and created the OS-01 peptide. This peptide switches off these senescent cells (often called “zombie cells” which contribute to fine lines, wrinkles and sagging skin. How Does the OS-01 Peptide Work?
The patented OS-01 peptide works by preventing the accumulating of these senescent cells which are one of the root causes of aging in the skin. Based on their research, the OS-01 peptide can penetrate deeper levels of the skin leading to an increase in epidermal thickness. It also helps to increase collagen and hyaluronic acid production which will help the skin to look and feel healthier, firmer and more youthful. OneSkin OS-01 Face Topical Supplement
This is their star skincare product and the one that I recommend using first. It’s a lightweight gel moisturizer that feels nearly weightless on the skin. Because it is so thin, I can use it various places in my skincare routine. I currently use it in my morning skincare routine as my daytime moisturizer. I have also used it in my evening skincare routine underneath my thick and heavy night cream. The Face Supplement is going to address a host of anti-aging concerns such as dehydration, dullness, loss of elasticity and wrinkles. It’s gentle enough for sensitive skin but is a universally lightweight formula that is suitable for all skin types.
Though OneSkin does focus on skin longevity and keeping skin healthy for the long term, your satisfaction with something like the OneSkin OS-01 Face may not be as significant as someone who is more mature. The Face Topical Supplement is a multi-tasking product that uses ingredients such as hyaluronic acid and niacinamde to hydrate the skin and boost barrier function which will allow your skin to retain moisture longer. It will “switch off” those senescent cells that degrade collagen allowing the skin to look and appear more firm. Additionally, this formulation enhances tone and you will notice an improved skin texture.
OneSkin OS-01 Eye Topical Supplement
The eye area is often the place where we see the signs of aging occur first so this eye cream targets all the same concerns as the face supplement but in a richer formulation. The Eye Topical Supplement contains the patented OS-01 peptide so it addresses all the same issues as the face cream. If you struggle with dehydration and dry under eyes, this is the most gloriously rich formula that will help bring moisture back to this area. I personally love to use it during my morning routine because it preps the skin under my eyes perfectly for makeup and concealer. In addition to helping moisturize the delicate skin under the eyes, it will help firm sagging skin and reduce fine lines and wrinkles.
The skin around the eye is one of the thinnest on the entire body so the OS-01 eye is formulated to treat it differently than the rest of the face. Looking at the before and after images that they have on their website, one of the biggest things I noticed was the reduction in inflammation around the eye which can cause the puffy tired look that so many of us struggle with. A small amount is all you need to treat both eyes and can be used both morning and night.
OneSkin OS-01 Body Topical Supplement
I’ve begun to take the same approach to the skin on my body as I do the skin on my face. I need to treat it with the same powerful ingredients rather than just simply moisturizing and exfoliating. The Body Topical Supplement is one of the best treatments I’ve used that really targets anti-aging concerns for the body. Things like crepiness, dullness, loss of firmness, dehydration and protecting the skin barrier. This is a lightweight gel moisturizer that absorbs almost instantly and leaves no film or residue on the skin.
I use it every day either alone or layered underneath one of my other scented body lotions or oils. If you are hesitant to splurge on a body care product, I would recommend using it mainly on the areas that are most visible if you want to make the product last as long as possible. Focus on the chest, neck, arms and hands because often that is the part of the body that receives sun exposure and can show a distinct contrast to the skin on your face.
OneSkin PREP Facial Cleanser
While cleansers can often be seen as an afterthought in a skincare routine, I believe that using great cleansers can really help to prep the skin well for the rest of the products you will be using. From the first time I tried this cleanser, I was instantly in love with how it made my skin feel (and featured it in this blog post on best facial cleansers for mature skin) . It’s a silky gel texture that foams up slightly but not enough to dry out the skin or less your skin feeling stripped and/or tight. The PREP facial cleanser helps to balance the skin and allow for better product absorption. There is prickly pear extract for a gentle exfoliation, arnica extract to help reduce inflammation and niacinamide which helps to condition the skin.
Is OneSkin Worth It?
I have loved using the entire OneSkin line and found the products to be some of the most efficacious in my routine. That being said, I do think the line would be best suited for more mature skin types. If you are not seeing loss of elasticity, deep lines or dehydration, you may not get the full effects of the product benefits. If you are experiencing those things, I think the OneSkin line is completely worth the splurge. All the formulas are suitable for any skin type and gentle enough for sensitive skin.
