I don’t review fragrances too often on the blog mainly because I’m not as invested in fragrances as I am in makeup or skincare. I am not someone who has a signature scent or splurges too often on perfume. But I do have types of fragrance that I am drawn to and currently have a group of scents that I really love and wanted to share. Most of these are under $100 so they aren’t huge investments but I adore each of the scents. I gravitate towards sweet and/or fruity scents but don’t enjoy anything too powdery or too floral. I will probably this blog post over time if my lineup changes but for now, these are the fragrances I have in rotation and really enjoy wearing.
My Current Fragrance Collection
Phlur Strawberry Letter
This is the fragrance I have heard the most buzz about and it’s been on my radar for quite some time. I love a fruity fragrance but this is a rich fruity scent with so much depth to it. It’s described as a crisp, fruity gourmand but it definitely has some more intense notes so it’s not as light or sweet as other fruity gourmand fragrances. Here’s a breakdown of all the notes:
- top notes: cassis leaves, strawberry gariguette, plum nectar
- middle notes: wild lily, red poppy, apple blossom
- base notes: earthy woods, tonka bean, sugared amber
Phlur Father Figure
For those of you who may prefer a more unisex fragrance that isn’t too fruity or floral, Father Figure is a great option. It’s fresh and clean smelling while still giving a bit of creamy musk. It’s considered a vivid green scent and I love the slightly masculine element to it. This is a fragrance that smells amazing any season of the year – so versatile and timeless. Here’s a breakdown of all the notes:
- top notes: waterlily, lush fig, cassis buds
- middle notes: orris root, iris flower, jasmine dew
- base notes: skin musks, vanilla madagascar, patchouli leaf, sandalwood
Phlur Missing Person
This was the first scent I ever tried from Phlur that really made me fall in love with the brand. I believe it was one of their first scents and still remains a top seller. I describe this as a no fragrance fragrance because it’s so delicate and soft. If I’m being honest, this is not extremely long wearing so it does begin to fade as the day goes on. But if you are someone who prefers a sheer scent that isn’t overpowering, this is a must try! It’s described as a sheer floral but definitely not too powdery or sweet. Here’s a breakdown of all the notes:
- top notes: skin musk, bergamot nectar, sheer jasmine
- middle notes: fresh cyclamen, neroli blossom, orange flower
- base notes: sandalwood australia oil, blonde wood, white musk
Phlur Vanilla Skin Body Mist
Phlur offers a ton of body mists which are much more affordable and are easy to layer with other scents or wear alone. Because they are body mists, their staying power is not as long as a traditional EDT or EDP. But that being said, I do find that this particular body mist lasts a bit longer than other ones I’ve tried. I do love a vanilla fragrance but this one isn’t too sweet and has a more musky/smoky finish to it. Here’s a breakdown of all the notes:
- top notes: pink pepper, pink apple, sugar crystals
- middle notes: lily, jasmine petals, cashmere wood
- base notes: benzoin, vanilla, sandalwood, agarwood
Merit Beauty Retrospect
Merit Beauty is known mostly for their makeup but recently launched a fragrance and it’s absolutely gorgeous. The scent is called Retrospect and is exactly what you would expect from the brand – it’s elevated, chic and polished. It’s a very easy fragrance to wear and most people that smell it on me love it. It’s an EDP so it’s a more concentrated formula and lasts all day on me. It does tend to evolve as the day goes on and you can really smell the different notes throughout the day. The bottle is stunning and looks beautiful displayed on your dresser or nightstand. Here’s a breakdown of all the notes:
- top notes: bergamot, pear, ambrette, aldehydes
- middle notes: jasmine, rose, rosemary, violet, orris
- base notes: vanilla, musk, moss
5 Sens In Too Deep
This is a new brand that I was introduced to and immediately fell in love with these two specific scents. I’ve shared a few gourmand scents in this post but this is my favorite because of how SMOOTH it is!! It’s a creamy vanilla scent that doesn’t smell too sweet or too young – it strikes the perfect balance. It’s considered a warm spicy scent though it’s not an overwhelming spice but rather a silky richness. Here’s a breakdown of all the notes:
- top notes: tahitian vanilla, italian bergamot
- middle notes: sparkling sugar
- base notes: australian sandalwood, musk
5 Sens Catch Feelings
At the completely other end of the spectrum, Catch Feelings is a floral scent with a bit of warmth to it. It’s not too powdery or tart and is so easy to wear. It’s not as long lasting as some of my other scents but I find that I like how it fades throughout the day. I was never someone who loved rose in my fragrances but I have slowly found combinations of rose scents that I adore. This is one of them! Here’s a breakdown of all the notes:
- top notes: lychee, ruby grapefruit
- middle notes: damask rose
- base notes: vetiver roots, suede
Snif Rose Era
This is one of my favorite fragrances out of the entire group. A fruity floral that smells clean, vibrant and only a tad bit sweet. Every time I spray this scent it puts me in a good mood. LOL Do you ever have fragrances that do that for you? As soon as you smell then, it gives you a serotonin boost. Ha! My only complaint is that it’s not as long wearing as I would prefer but I love the scent too much to let that deter me from wearing it. It’s that good! Here’s a breakdown of all the notes:
- top notes: rose, strawberry, clean laundry accord
- middle notes: ambrette seeds, pear
- base notes: white moss, saffron, orcanox
