I used to get the worst seasonal depression during the cold winter months. I was miserable and felt unmotivated and sad until Spring. But over the past few years, I have completely reframed how I think about winter and the things I do during these months. And as a result, winter has now become my (second) favorite season of the entire year. I really leaned into slowing down and immersing myself in things that make me happy. November and December are the months of giving but I call January the “month of me”. I don’t focus on resolutions or a “fresh start” but rather allow myself to slow down and indulge in anything that brings me joy. I thought I would share the things I do that have really helped me enjoy this season in case you  may need some inspiration for yourself.

The older I get the less makeup I can wear because it can show too much texture and look unnatural on my aging skin. It’s more important than ever to find the right complexion products that will provide the performance I want while not working against my mature skin. When it comes to concealer especially, my options seem to be less and less because so many make my under eye area look worse as the day goes on. When I find one that really impresses me, I have to share it with all of you!

As someone who loves to wear a full face of makeup everyday but still prefers lightweight formulas, skin tints are my preferred everyday complexion products. Foundations often have too much coverage for my mature skin and can look too noticeable on the skin. Skin tints are lightweight liquid tints usually packed with skincare ingredients to help treat the skin while also offering light to medium coverage. They are a versatile addition to any beauty routine though not all skin tints are the same. Danessa Myricks is a professional makeup artist who created her own line of innovative products and formula that truly work and perform well for any and all skin types.

My body care routine has now become as extensive as my skincare routine which seems to be more and more necessary the older I get. I am also someone who loves a body product that is scented in addition to providing skincare benefits. Salt & Stone is a brand that I have seen so many people talking about so I finally had to try their products for myself.

My skin is currently struggling with all this cold weather we have had the past few weeks. As someone who used to have oily/combination skin but now has dry/mature skin, I am constantly on the hunt for products to help soothe and comfort my skin in the winter. And because my skin is changing so much (thank you, perimenopause), things that used to work for me no longer do so I am always trying to find what will make my skin happy in the present. I’ve been cycling through a handful of products to figure out what can help my skin not feel so dry, tight and uncomfortable.
