I recently saw the Tom Ford Soleil Sunlit Rose Lip Balm online while I was scrolling new beauty arrivals on Nordstrom and the pictures looked so gorgeous that I immediately added it to my cart. I decided to try the Tom Ford Soleil Neige Glow Highlighter Powders as well so I thought I would review them all in one post. They are both part of the Winter Holiday 2023 collection and are limited edition.
Tom Ford Winter Holiday 2023 Collection Review
Tom Ford Soleil Sunlit Rose Lip Balm Review
I have purchased a few Tom Ford lip colors and formulas over the years and for the most part, I really enjoy his lip products. They often look much like the pictures online and the texture and color payoff is usually nice. I saw pictures of this Soleil Sunlit Rose Lip Balm online and they shimmery frosty rose finish looked absolutely stunning. And the packaging was even more gorgeous. Online it looked like it was a pale rose with silvery pearlescent glitter all over. However, the product in real life looks absolutely NOTHING like the photos online. As you can see from the above pictures, it looks very peachy and has a slightly blu-ish sparkly overspray.
I figured it could be just a small difference in packaging and how the colors read online versus in person, but when I applied it the product was nothing like I anticipated. In fact, it looked like a completely different product than how it looks online. The color looks peachy nude on the lips with little to no shimmer. It almost disappeared on my lips because it matched my lip color almost identically. The formula feels creamy and smooth but I was really hoping for a more silvery shimmery rose color for the lips rather than a creamy sheer peach balm. To be honest, I decided to return it because it was nothing special and was not worth the price in my opinion.
Tom Ford Soleil Neige Glow Highlighter Powders Review
The Tom Ford Soleil Neige Glow Highlighter Powders in shades Rose Irise and Gran Paradis are both limited edition for the season. They are a powder formula highlighter with a multi-dimensional iridescent shimmer. I have been really into cream highlighters at the moment but the packaging and colors of these really sucked me in. LOL I personally love the white and silver packaging especially in the winter – it looks so crisp and chic. The first color I tested was Rose Irise which is a beautiful opalescent light rose. When swatching it, the color was quite sheer with an intense high shine. I applied it on the cheeks with a brush and the finish is bold but using a brush allows it apply more sheer. It’s a beautiful topper to the cheeks and reads a bit more cool on my skin which I actually loved. Gran Paradis is a pale golden champagne color and was a tad more pigmented in my opinion. It gave an even bolder shine and it’s best to use a light hand when applying.
I tried applying each with a brush and then with my finger to see the difference in color payoff. When you apply these highlighters with a brush, the end result is slighly sheer and a subtle glow. But if you use your fingers to apply, the product warms up a bit and the shimmer is much more intense. The color really shows up on the skin and gives a bold highlight. I definitely like the formula and when applied with my fingers, there is a less powdery look on the skin.
Tom Ford Soleil Sunlit Rose Lip Balm and Soleil Neige Glow Highlighter Powder Swatches
Starting with the swatches of the Sunlit Rose Lip Balm, you can barely even notice it in the photos above when it’s on my lips. When swatched, it looks like a creamy peach balm and on the lips it all but disappears. The formula is nice and creamy but not at all what it looked like online. A total disappointment.
The Soleil Neige Glow Highlighter Powders are both beautiful on the skin though the Rose Irise is more subtle and sheer, while Gran Paradis is more pigmented and bolder. I usually gravitate towards warmer champagne colored highlighters, but I actually loved the cool opalescent tone of the Rose Irise a tad bit more on my skin. Both were beautiful though and gave a glowing finish to the skin. For a less intense highlight, apply the powder with a fluffy brush. For a more intense glow, use your fingers and warm the product up before placing on the cheekbones.
Have you tried any of these new Tom Ford launches? What are your thoughts?
