Another day, another eyeshadow palette. And these are both beauties. Of course it should come as no surprise that I have the Dior Eye Reviver Palette – it’s a neutral lover’s dream. And the Stila palette is part of the new Eyes Are the Window palette range – this one is called Mind. I was drawn to it because all of the colors are matte – every.single.one. That pleases me greatly. I love a shimmer eye, but matte shadows will forever be a staple in my collection and with the number of versatile shades in this palette, I am getting a ton of use out of it.
1. Dior Eye Reviver Palette – This palette is stunning. It has a bone colored base shade to use first on the lids to even them out, beautiful neutral shades that have a texture that looks both shimmery and matte, and a gel liner that is super intense. The formulation of the shadows isn’t super pigmented but can be built up and blends effortlessly. The gel liner is nice and dark, but I fear that it may dry out over time – I will have to watch it. While I have loved this palette since the moment it arrived at my apartment, I am not confident it would work on every skin tone, which is such a shame. I wish they had made it available in a few different variations of color because what is nude to me, is certainly not nude to everyone else. And while I have been using the heck out of the first two pale shades, I think they could possibly look too pale or chalky on certain people. I am not positive because I haven’t been able to swatch it on anyone else beside myself, but I thought it was worth mentioning. But for me, it’s a stunner.
2. Stila Eyes Are the Window Palette in Mind – Where the Dior palette is quite limited in it’s shade range, this Stila palette offers something for everyone. The colors are rich, matte and vary from cool to warm tones. Most palettes I have skew one way or another, but this offers so many great shades that I find myself reaching for it even when I am using other eye shadow palettes. The shades in this Stila palette are the perfect complement colors and work well to enhance whatever look I am doing. Many of the muted mid range shades work as crease colors, and the darker ones are essential as eyeliner to most of my looks now. If you are in the market for a new matte palette (or you have no self control like myself and just can’t resist a great one) that has a wide variety of shades, I cannot recommend this enough.
