I love to change up some of my makeup each season and I usually first start with my lip colors. When spring arrives, I want to wear a bit more color and begin reaching for lip shades that are more colorful and vibrant than in the fall or winter. I gravitate towards pink shades, sheer reds and some punchy corals. As I have gotten older, I realize that brighter lip colors look a bit better on me than more neutral shades do. I still like to apply these vibrant lip shades with a light hand so the final effect is less bold and more subtle and fresh. I rounded up 10 of my favorite lip shades that I will be wearing all spring and even into summer.
10 Best Spring Lip Colors
Flyte.70 Lip Sheer in Kid (discount code: MAREE15)
These are some of my favorite lip tints because they make my lips look the smoothest and minimize fine lines. The formula is incredibly nourishing and the color range is wearable but definitely still gives a healthy dose of pigment. The entire Flyte.70 line is formulated to be suitable for all ages but they especially target more mature skin types and concerns. That is why I absolutely LOVE these because the smoothing effect they give the lips is beautiful! Kid is a vibrant Raspberry that when applied looks much more subtle on the lips but still instantly brightens up my face when I wear it.
Tower 28 LipSoftie Lip Treatment in Blood Orange
I have so many tinted lip balms and while many do perform similarly, the Tower 28 LipSofties are by far one of my favorite formulas I’ve ever tried. From the feel, to the shade range and price point, these are an absolute must have! This is first a lip mask so the formulation contains a ton of great skincare ingredients. Shea butter and jojoba oil to boost hydration and lock in moisture. Lysine to prevent dryness while also smoothing and softening lips. Additionally it is made with food grade non artificial flavors to avoid further drying out the lips. Blood Orange is a sheer red but leans more cool toned than the Naturium Lip Balm in Strawberry.
Hourglass Phantom Volumizing Glossy Balm in Crave
Glossy balm/lipstick hybrids have been gaining popularity over the past few years and I am so happy they have. Most of these formulas are super moisturizing but still provide a ton of pigment. The Hourglass Glossy Balms are richly pigmented but feel very comfortable with no stickiness or tackiness. Crave is another warm pink shade that I wear all year long but have it in heavy rotation throughout spring and summer.
Bloomeffects Tulipscreen Hydrating Lip Oil in Tulipy Pink (discount code: Maree)
These are a richly pigmented lip oil formula with SPF protection! I can’t wait to wear these all spring and summer instead of always opting for a SPF lip balm with no color. These have a TON of slip to them and move around a ton when you first apply. The formula does dry down after a few minutes and they are more long wearing than I anticipated. But if you do plan to be outside for a long time wearing these, you will need to touch up. Tulipy Pink is another warm pink but has a ton of color payoff from the first swipe.
Merit Beauty Tinted Lip Oil in Pink Beet
Out of the all the colors I shared in this post, this one is the most neutral in tone. It’s a neutral pinky rose but still gives great color payoff. I usually will layer this over a brighter lip to tone down some of the brightness but it also looks beautiful worn alone. These lip oils are super silky and smooth but are not very long wearing. You will need to reapply a few times throughout the day but my lips do feel so nourished while wearing these.
Patrick Ta Major Volume Plumping Gloss in 2 CC’s
There are different textures in this range and 2 CC’s falls in the sheer formulation. I LOVE THIS COLOR!!! It’s a jelly-like texture and finish which makes the lips look like glass. It looks warm in the tube but skews a bit more cool on the lips. It enhances my natural lip color in the best possible way. And it looks beautiful worn alone but I usually layer this over top another brighter lip color to add some shine. A must try!
RMS Beauty Legendary Lip Oil in Elle (discount code: Maree-15)
The RMS Beauty Legendary Lip Oil is a nourishing lip formula designed to give shine, pigment and nourishment to the lips. This is a 97% skincare infused formula that is designed to provide 8 hr hydration and lip repair. I love the colors, the pigment, the feel and the finish of these lip oils. Elle is a warmer pink (almost coral) that is another great shade for everyday. These are not your traditional lip oil in the way that there is not a ton of shine and give a more stain-like effect to the lips which I adore.
Naturium Phyto-Glow Lip Balm in Strawberry
The Naturium Phyto-Glow Lip Balms are a nourishing lip balm designed to nourish the lips and leave them feeling silky, smooth and moisturized. With they can definitely be used as a treatment, Naturium launched a ton of colors that I love wearing during the day as my primary lip color. They give pigment while still keeping my lips moisturized and smooth. From the packaging to the formula, I love using these regularly and constantly recommend them to those looking for a tinted lip balm option. Strawberry is a punchy red orange that delivers so much color payoff for a lip balm!
Kosas Wet Lip Oil Gloss in Malibu
For those of you who don’t want a warm pink and everything skews too orange on you, this lip color from Kosas may be the perfect solution. It’s a cooler pink that isn’t too light or too dark. It’s truly my version of the perfect spring pink lip. The Kosas lip oil formula is very shiny and a tad tingly because it is designed to have a plumping effect. The tingling is relatively mild compared to some of my other plumping lip formulas. The finish to this lip oil is very glassy and makes the lips look almost wet.
Colleen Rothschild Hydrashine Lipstick Balm in Via Del L’Amore
While the name implies that these may be closer to a treatment product instead of a makeup product, it’s actually the opposite if you ask me. These perform more like a try hydrating lipstick or lip shine formula with really amazing color payoff and pigment. Even though these are very shiny like a gloss, they deliver much more pigment than you would expect. The color payoff is closer to medium than sheer. I love how rich the color payoff is on the lips and they are perfect worn alone or layered over your favorite lip liner. Via Del L’Amore is a peachy coral that is neutral enough to wear everyday.
