While my athletic prowess has been quite lacking these past few years (due to multiple spine surgeries, blah), I’m excited to finally be at a place again where I can begin to workout without being in intense pain. Growing up I was a competitive figure skater so my workout clothes were more sport specific – often with sequins and lace which made them even better. However, skater skirts and leotards are not the look I’m going for anymore (though they were fun at the time), and I’ve begun building up a workout wardrobe that also serves other purposes. I think it is great to have pieces dedicated just to sweating it out in the gym or a class (currently I’m loving barre), but I also like not having to go home and change right after in order to meet a friend for lunch or run errands. I love this long tunic style tee from the GAP because it’s long enough to cover my bum, but has amazing stretch which makes it ideal for working out. I enjoy wearing leggings, but these from BCBG mix a legging and a pant so I have worn them to almost every occasion you can imagine. Workout classes, date night, sightseeing – they fit the bill for everything. And the puffer coat is necessary because it’s freezing, but it still has a great shape and fit so it adds to the outfit rather than being an afterthought. Sneakers are not necessary for many of the classes I currently take, but these are some of the chicest ones I’ve seen so I love wearing them with so many casual outfits.
I’m looking for other workout wear suggestions or brands that you enjoy being active in. Leave me a comment below with your recommendations!
