Now that the weather is finally getting warmer, summer concerts are in full swing! Sadly there is no Taylor Swift Eras tour or Beyonce tour this summer which were the highlights of last summer concert experiences but summer is still a great time to enjoy live music outside. It can be difficult to decide on a summer concert outfit so I rounded up a bunch of looks for style inspiration that would fit a ton of different music genres and venues while all still being quite comfortable. There is a good mix of splurge and budget items but all would pair easily back to anything you already have in your closet. You can also pin these looks to use as inspiration and recreate with what you already have in your closet.
What To Wear To a Summer Concert
Midi Dress with Cowboy Boots
Dress | Boots | Hat | Sunglasses | Bracelets
I’m not a huge country music fan but I can’t help but want to wear cowboy boots to a summer concert, anyone else? And I sort of love the idea of a feminine style dress paired with cowboy boots. Opt for a mid calf style boot though if you are going to wear a midi dress. I like a knee high cowboy boot with a shorter skirt or maxi length skirt. You can also wear these boots with denim shorts for a super relaxed look but don’t be afraid to dress them up slightly with a flowy floral print dress like this one. Comfortable shoes are a necessity for a concert and if you are going to an outdoor show then sunglasses and a big hat (or even a cowboy hat to match the boots) are a must have as well.
I always feel like the bag situation for a concert is the least exciting part of the outfit so the details have to make up for it. LOL Keep things simple in your bag and only bring the essentials but don’t forget things like band-aids, hand sanitizer and maybe some hydration packets to add to your water. A makeup setting spray with SPF is a great multi-use product to use but also bring a powder SPF to dust on for touch ups at the concert. And since your arms and shoulders will be out, spritz a shimmering body SPF to both protect the skin but still give it a glow.
Denim Shorts and a Statement Top
Top | Shorts | Shoes | Bracelet | Sunglasses | Earrings
Denim shorts are still one of the best options for wearing to a concert. Comfortable yet can be styled a ton of different ways. A graphic tee is often the first choice for many when wearing denim shorts, but I love styling denim shorts with a statement top especially for a concert. The top is much more voluminous and blousy so I styled it with a slimmer pair of denim shorts to help balance out the proportion. Mesh accessories are everywhere this year and I am obsessed with the trend. Especially for a concert, these would allow your feet to breathe but still keep them protected more than a simple flip flop or strappy sandal.
You don’t need to accessorize too much with a statement top but simple gold hoops is always a great choice. I love the mixed metal combination of the bracelet which is a great piece to wear alone or layer with some delicate bracelets on the other wrist.
I also did a prior blog post all about my favorite bras if you need some suggestions of ones that would work with tank tops or dresses. In fact, I searched for years for the best strapless bra and finally feel like I found one. And many of my readers have confirmed that they have tried it and I’ve gotten great feedback from everyone.
White Tank Top and Wide Leg Jeans
Tank | Jeans | Shoes | Hat | Sunglasses | Necklace
An elevated twist on a tank top and jeans, right? This tank is perfect for an outdoor concert but you can balance out the amount of skin you are showing by styling it with wide leg high waisted jeans. And then because a comfortable shoe is a must have these birkenstock style sandals are embellished just enough to add some interest to the look. The bucket hat is a bit more of a trendy option so if that is not your preference, you can always choose a simple straw hat or panama hat. Since the tank is so simple, add a quirky statement necklace as your jewelry choice but keep everything else minimal. Finish the look off with some clear sunglasses which are an effortless choice because they don’t compete with anything in the outfit. What look is your favorite of the bunch?
Do you have any summer concerts or music festivals planned?
