I’ve been a long time Tatcha fan and loyalist for nearly 10 years. They were one of the first brands I ever reached out to when I started my blog so I will always have a special place in my heart for them. At that time, there was just the enzyme powders which was not a product many brands were making so it really set them apart. Since then I have tried so many of their new launches and fallen in love with so many of the formulations.
The Tatcha Water Cream is a staple in their line and for good reason. If you are unfamiliar with a water cream, it is just as the name implies – a lightweight cream that helps to intensely hydrate the skin. Water creams have a gel-like texture that often utilizes various humectants to deliver moisture to the skin and help the skin retain that hydration. This is what separates them from other hydrating skincare products. The Tatcha Water Cream does exactly this and has been a top seller for the brand ever since it was launched. Today’s post is going to be more in-depth honest review of the formula, who it would be best for and whether I think it is worth the investment.
Tatcha Water Cream Review
Tatcha has been around since 2009 so it is a fairly new brand to the market. They have been very intentional with their range and their products are inspired by Japanese skincare, Japanese culture and Japanese rituals. Since the brand first launched, Tatcha has expanded to various retailers all throughout the country and are a heavily sought after skincare brand. From their packaging to their formulations, Tatcha creates a full immersive experience with their products. I have my hits and misses with the brand but I really do enjoy the Water Cream.
What Does Tatcha Water Cream Do?
The Tatcha Water Cream is a lightweight pore-refining moisturizer designed to help clarify and hydrate the skin. In addition to helping refine clogged pores and skin texture, it improves the skin barrier and boosts radiance. I have drier skin so I will only use this in the warmer months, but those with oily or combination skin would benefit from a formula like this year round! My preference in the winter is Tatcha the Dewy Skin Cream.
Price Point
Tatcha is a luxury brand and this price point definitely reflects that. It is $72 for 50ml/1.7 oz. There are also smaller sizes available and the full sized cream is now refillable!
Packaging
Not all brands that charge premium pricing deliver packaging that feels luxe but Tatcha definitely does. The Water Cream comes in a beautiful refillable aqua jar with a gold spatula affixed to the lid. You can use the gold spatula to scoop out the product each time so you don’t have to put your fingers in the product.
Texture
Like a true water cream, the Tatcha the Water Cream has a lightweight gel-cream texture that feels refreshing on the skin.
Ingredients
The water cream is formulated with glycerin for hydrating and improving the skin barrier, wild rose to tighten the pores and Hasadei-3 to visibly reduce pores.
Skin Type
This is best for someone with oily skin or combination skin that wants a boost of hydration while still helping to refine clogged pores. It will help to balance excess oil without stripping the skin. Afterwards skin feels soothed, refreshed and intensely hydrated.
Benefits
The water cream delivers 3x the hydration while smoothing texture with a BHA alternative and refining pores.
Is Tatcha Water Cream Worth It?
As a long time lover of Tatcha, I have continuously repurchase their products that I love because I find them to be effective and pleasurable to use. That being said, there are many water creams now available on the market that are at a lower price point that could give you similar results. If you are in the market for a new hydrating water cream and Tatcha is within your budget, I think you will be happy with the formula and how it performs. It continues to be a top seller and cult classic for a reason.
