I know I just did a foundation collection video and it was quite extensive. And yet here I am again, reviewing more foundations. I just can’t say no – they are my beauty weakness. And I do it for all of you as well – so hopefully you can find foundations that rock your world. How selfless of me. The three foundations I’ve recently been testing are the new NARS All Day Luminous Powder Foundation, the Cle de Peau Beaute Cream Foundation and the new Shiseido Future Solution LX Foundation. I loved two of them, and found one may be better suited for drier skin. Below is my review of each formula.
1. Shiseido Future Solution LX Foundation in Very Light Ivory – I figured I would start with my absolute favorite. The first time I tried this formula, I had an immediate ‘wow’ moment in my bathroom. The formula is quite thick looking, but goes on rather sheer with the possibility of being built up. Infused with skincare properties from their Future Solution LX line, this foundation over time will help to brighten the skin, make it more even tone and help correct the visible signs of aging. Since I have only been using it a few weeks, I couldn’t speak immediately to those results, but what I can say is this foundation creates virtually perfect skin. I found that it literally melted into my skin – almost fusing to it in a way. I have found that skincare based foundations tend to do this but often lack the proper amount of coverage – either too heavy or too light. This strikes the perfect balance. The only challenge is the limited shade range which is a complete bummer. However, if you find a match, I highly recommend giving it a go. All day wear, a gorgeous air-brushed finish and buildable coverage – your skin will thank me.
2. Cle de Peau Beaute Cream Foundation in I10 – As I slowly try more and more from Cle de Peau Beaute, I am shocked I never discovered the line prior to blogging. The products are exceptional with quality that lives up to the higher price points. And this foundation only served to solidify this opinion. The Cream Foundation gives a truly magnificent formula where a little goes a looooooong way, and gives the skin a polished look. I found the coverage to be more medium to full with a natural satin finish, so while the price tag is a bit high, this tube will last you quite a long time. I found that it even did a great job of covering my dark circles, making the need for concealer nearly unnecessary. I loved applying both this and the Shiseido with my new Sephora Pro Airbrush Brush #55, and felt it worked well with both formulas. Again the shade range is limited which always makes me sad, but if you find one that works for you, I recommend giving it a go.
3. NARS All Day Luminous Powder Foundation in Siberia -While the prior two foundations featured in this post were a huge home run, I ran into some issues with this one. But before I talk about the challenges, let’s focus on what I liked about this formula. The texture is super soft and feels glorious to the touch. I knew this would glide on effortlessly and it did. I experimented with it by applying it wet first and couldn’t get an even enough application, so I applied it dry and found that my skin instantly looked luminous, which is so rare for a powder foundation. But what began as luminous, turned to overly shiny after just a few hours (like 3 – yikes) on my oily skin. I couldn’t help but feel let down because I wanted to finally be able to add a powder foundation to my collection, but sadly this was not the one. However, on the bright side, I have used it since as a finishing powder along my cheekbones and absolutely love the glow I get. For those with dry skin, I truly think this powder could be your best friend.
