I’ve shared a look into my body care routines and all the products I use regularly on my mature skin. Body oils are not my favorite type of moisturizer but there are a handful I continuously use because I love how they make my skin feel. I typically prefer a lightweight watery body oil that absorbs quickly but there are a few that are richer in texture which really help to nourish my skin when it is exceptionally dry. If you are looking to add a body oil into your body care routine, here are my recommendations of different formulas to try:
Body Oil Reviews
Saltair Nourishing Body Oil
I love a nourishing body oil but prefer to have it absorb quickly so it doesn’t get on my clothes or pajamas at night. The Saltair Body Oil is incredibly rich but soaks in almost immediately leaving my skin moisturized but not greasy. Formulated with fermented saururus, kukui, cacay, moringa and squalane along with a biomimetic blend of plant actives that absorb easily and leave skin glowing. If you are new to using body oils, my favorite way to apply them is when my skin is still slightly damp after the shower. I like to massage in my body oil over my damp skin to trap in all the moisture.
OSEA Undaria Algae Body Oil
My first impression of the Osea Undaria Algae Body Oil is how thick it is which can be either a good or bad thing depending on how it absorbs into the skin. The scent isn’t overpowering though it dissipates after it is applied. I use a small amount to start with and rub it in. While it doesn’t absorb immediately, after a few minutes it soaked in and my skin felt SO soft and supple! My lower legs were quite dry and it instantly nourished them leaving my skin looking healthy and well moisturized.
Mutha Body Oil (discount code: MAREE15)
Much like the OSEA Body Oil, the Mutha Body Oil is very rich in texture and feel. I love to reach for this when my skin is very dry especially in the winter. Despite the thicker texture, it feels silky smooth to the touch. This leaves the most gorgeous glow to the skin with just a hint of fresh citrus notes. I also love the firming aspects of this body oil especially as someone with more mature skin that is starting to lose some elasticity.
Kiehl’s Creme de Corps Nourishing Dry Body Oil
A tad bit heavier than the Saltair Body Oil but still super lightweight and fast absorbing. This is a dry body oil so it feels much less oily than other formulations but still nourishes just as intensely. It has a spray nozzle applicator which is great if you don’t want your hands to get covered in oil. The scent is very sweet with hints of almond and vanilla though dissipates shortly after applying so you don’t have to worry about it interfering with your fragrances.
Colleen Rothschild The Ritual Body Oil
This body oil falls right in the middle in terms of thickness. It’s a beautifully silky body oil that feels richly nourishing at first but absorbs quickly once applied. The scent is a mix of citrus, bergamot and earthy green notes which really evokes a spa-like experience when applying.
