Phlur Fragrance ReviewFragrance is part of my everyday routine just as my makeup and skincare is for me. I don’t have the largest fragrance collection but I definitely love having a variety of scents to choose from. And honestly, a good (or bad) scent can really impact my day. Spraying a scent I really love is like having mini dopamine hits all day long every time I smell it. LOL Scent can also really create an aura around you and leave an impression on people once you leave. Have you ever smelled something and instantly thought of someone in your life who wears that fragrance? Or when you smell a distinct scent, it can instantly transport you back to a time where you encountered that smell. Scent can be so powerful for this and can create deep long lasting memories surrounding it. I usually rotate between a handful of scents that I have and reach for daily.

Phlur has been a brand that I have tried numerous times over the years and have fallen in love with many of their scents. Their scents all seem very accessible to me because they use popular notes in combinations that appeal to so many. If you have never tried any scents from Phlur, I am going to share an honest review of some of my favorites as well as a description of their other scents to help you decide which one may be best for you and whether or not they are worth it.

Phlur Fragrance Review

Before sharing my thoughts on all the Phlur fragrances I have tried, I thought I would share a bit more about the brand. Phlur is a relatively new brand that has steadily gained popularity since 2021 when influencer Chriselle Lim became affiliated with the brand. She is now the owner and creative director of Phlur. Their mission is to be a fragrance brand that prioritizes ingredients and sustainability. They use both natural and synthetic ingredients to create scents that are modern and intentional. Choosing packaging that is both functional and beautiful while consistently working towards reducing their impact on the planet. I love how simple and unencumbered their packaging looks an feels while still looking chic and elevated.

If I’m being honest, some fragrance brands and fragrances can feel intimidating. From overly elaborate packaging, to scents that are extremely niche and price points that are prohibitive to many. I do support the availability of these types of fragrance so that everyone can choose what best suits their needs or wants. Some people want something that truly feels elusive, exclusive and rare while others want something more mainstream and accessible. I fall a bit in between but lean a bit more towards the mainstream and accessible end. And I love traditional fragrance notes and am often not a fan of scents that are too obscure or unique. I think that is why I have gravitated towards Phlur fragrance so much. They feel elevated yet attainable. I may not love every scent from Phlur but not a single one has ever turned me off. Here are my thoughts on the ones I currently own and a quick description of the other scents available from the brand.

Phlur Fragrance Review

Best Phlur Fragrances

Missing Person

This was the first scent I tried from the brand and it’s still one that I love. I’ve seen some describe it almost as a non-fragrance fragrance because it is so delicate and light. On the Phlur site, it says “if nude was a perfume, this is it” and honestly that is the perfect description! Top notes are skin musk, bergamot nectar and sheer jasmine. Middle notes are fresh cyclamen, neroli blossom and orange flower. Base notes are sandalwood australia oil, blonde wood and white musk.

Strawberry Letter

Strawberry Letter has been ALL over my social media feeds for the past few months and the hype definitely influenced me to try it. And I can totally understand why it’s a favorite for so many. This is a sexy fruity gourmand scent – if fruit and gourmand can even be sexy. LOL But in this case, THEY ARE! Top notes are cassis leaves, strawberry gariguette and plum nectar. Middle notes are wild lily, red poppy and apple blossom. Base notes are earthy woods, tonka bean and sugared amber.

Father Figure

Honestly, this isn’t a Phlur fragrance that I hear many people speaking about but more should be! This was an instant love as soon as I smelled it. It’s a green scent that smells a bit more unisex to me. It’s not overly masculine but not overly floral or fruity. I absolutely LOVE it! Top notes are waterlily, lush fig and cassis buds. Middle notes are orris root, iris flower and jasmine dew. Base notes are skin musk, vanilla madagascar, patchouli leaf and sandalwood.

Vanilla Skin

I already had the Vanilla Skin body mist which I really loved so I wanted to try the Vanilla Skin eau de parfum to compare. After testing both, I actually prefer the body mist to the EDP. The body mist is a tad less intense for me and more pleasant to wear. This is described as a gourmand scent but the EDP feels spicier to me and too musky for my taste. If you like a gourmand scent that isn’t too sweet and does have a bit more musk, than the Vanilla Skin EDP could be a great option for you. Top notes are pink pepper, pink apple and sugar crystals. Middle notes are lily, jasmine petals and cashmere wood. Base notes are benzoin, vanilla, sandalwood and agarwood.

Mood Ring

It was the name and the bright green bottle with this fragrance that appealed to me if I’m being honest. LOL I love the name Mood Ring because it brings me back to my childhood. Ha! This is a fruity floral that was nice but felt a bit too sweet for my taste – almost candy-like. Top notes are pitaya pulp, sweet orange and fruit gummies. Middle notes are orange flower, jasmine sambac and marigold bloom. Base notes are patchouli prisma, glazed musks and sheer amber.

In addition to these EDPs, there are a few others I have not yet tried but definitely want to. Golden Rule is a warm energetic floral. Soft Spot is a soft citrus and water scent. Somebody Wood is a cozy, warm and spicy scent. Solar Power is a floral musk. Tangerine Boy is bold, bright citrus scent. Lost Cause is a fresh woody floral. I have tried Apricot Privee which is a deep musky fruity scent that I did enjoy but didn’t end up repurchasing. And the last scent from the EDP collection is Not Your Baby which I have tried and liked but it wasn’t a must have for me. It’s a spicy floral.

In addition to the EDP options from Phlur, there are body mists in a variety of different scents. These body mists are much lighter in terms of longevity and intensity but still a great option to layer with or if you want something not as vibrant or intense as an EDP. Here’s a quick look at the body mist scents and their notes.

Vanilla Skin

I have this and absolutely love it more than the EDP. It’s a light vanilla gourmand that is incredibly wearable. Same notes as the Vanilla Skin EDP but for me it oddly smells very different. Top notes are pink pepper, pink apple and sugar crystals. Middle notes are lily, jasmine petals and cashmere wood. Base notes are benzoin, vanilla, sandalwood and agarwood.

Heavy Cream

This was hugely popular as soon as it launched and is one that I definitely want to try. It’s a decadent sweet milky scent. Top notes are lemon sugar, marshmallow and orange. Middle notes are jasmine blossom, coconut cream and vegan ambrettolide. Base notes are vanilla mousse, salted caramel and whipped cream.

Caramel Skin

As a lover of sweet scents, this one definitely intrigues me! Top notes are bergamot and caramel. Middle notes are warm milk, vanilla bean and caramel cream. Base notes are brown sugar, sandalwood and musk.

Coconut Skin

I’m also a huge fan of coconut so this one is also on my list to try! Top notes are palm leaf, caramel gelato and coconut. Middle notes are frangipani, tiare blossom and jasmine absolute sambac. Base notes are liquid sandalwood and salted amber.

Moonstone

I finished a bottle of this and while it was nice, it’s not a repurchase for me. Top notes are green apple, pineapple and black currant. Middle notes are lemon zest, mandarin orange, jasmine and geranium. Base notes are sandalwood, vanilla and amber.

Dragon Fruit

A tropical fruit body mist that sounds like it would be perfect for the warmer months. Top notes are pineapple, dragon fruit and watermelon. Middle notes are plum blossom, lotus flower and peony. Base notes are sugared amber, vanilla bean and sandalwood.

Amber Haze

I feel like this scent would be a great one to layer with! Top notes are saffron. Middle notes are jasmine absolute. Base notes are amber, vanilla, musk and oakmoss.

Mango Mood

I finished a bottle of this and enjoyed it but not enough to repurchase. Top notes are black currant, pink pepper and mango. Middle notes are wild orris, black lotus and jasmine sambac absolute. Base notes are patchouli, vanilla elixir and brown sugar.

Is Phlur Long Lasting and Worth It?

I have tried enough Phlur fragrances to confirm that I definitely think the brand is worth trying. There are a wide range of scents to choose from so there is definitely something for everyone. If you don’t want to commit to a full size yet, there are travel sizes available. If you are looking for longevity in your fragrance, definitely go with the EDP over the body mist. In terms of the longevity between the various EDP scents, I’ve found that Strawberry Letter and Father Figure last the longest on me. Missing Person is one of my favorites but it has the least staying power. Mood Ring and Vanilla Skin are long wearing but they still seemed to dissipate around the midday mark (5+ hours). I’m fine with this because I like my fragrances to slightly fade as the day goes on rather than staying as potent as when I first spray them.
