Since we are fully into winter I thought it was a good time to share an updated skincare routine and all the products I am using for morning and evening. Many things have stayed the same, while others have changed with the slightly colder weather. I’ve been testing out some new products and fallen in love so I will share exactly what I’m using step by step!
My Current Skincare Routine
My Morning Routine
Cleanse
I actually don’t use a cleanser in the morning anymore and just simply splash some cold water on my face before applying my skincare products.
Toner/Essence
Mediheal Collagen Ampoule Pads
My skin has been extra dry this winter so I need something to help give it some extra moisture at the beginning of my routine. I have been using one of these pads and swiping it all over my face right after I get out of the shower. They feel amazing and my skin looks and feels so plump after.
Curel Deep Moisture Mist
This is an intensely nourishing face mist that feels almost creamy once applied. The mist is perfect and super fine which I love. It’s a new addition for me but one that I will most definitely be repurchasing as soon as I run out.
TirTir Milk Skin Rice Toner
I also use this toner as an essence and pat it into my skin right after I spray the Curel Mist. I prefer this more than the Milky Skin Light toner because it gives me a stronger boost of hydrationg.
Serums
Timeless Skincare 20% Vitamin C + E Ferulic Acid Serum
The texture of this vitamin c is more like a face oil than a serum so you only need a few drops. It’s nourishing and gives my skin the most healthy glow too. For the price point, this is an amazing vitamin c serum.
Medik8 C-Tetra Luxe
Similar in texture to the Timeless serum, the Medik8 C-Tetra Luxe is an even thicker oil-like texture. I rotate between these two depending on how my skin feels that morning. This formulation is definitely a more potent vitamin c serum with a stronger brightening effect and more effective at fading dark spots.
Rhode Glazing Milk
I’ve decided to begin using the Rhode Glazing Milk in my serum step of my routine and have found to love it even more. Because it is so thick, it makes sense to use it after my vitamin c serum because you always want to go thinnest to thickest in terms of your skincare product usage.
Moisturizer
Naturium Multi-Peptide Moisturizer
I like this but don’t love it if I’m being honest. I wanted to add in a peptide to my morning routine but don’t feel this is doing that much. Once this is finished, I will go back to my Colleen Rothschild Sheer Renewal Cream for the daytime.
Mother Science Molecular Genesis Barrier Repair Moisturizer (discount code: MAREESYE)
On days that my skin is very dry or the weather is VERY cold, I will opt for this new Mother Science moisturizer instead of the Naturium. It protects my skin barrier in the best way and deeply nourishes my skin instantly.
Eye Cream
Neocutis Lumiere Firm Illuminating & Tightening Eye Cream
I can now understand why so many people love this eye cream and continuously go back to it. It’s rich but not too rich, intensely nourishing, illuminating and firming. It works well at night but also is wonderful during the daytime under makeup.
Sunscreen
Bloomeffects Tulip Dew Sunscreen Serum (discount code: Maree)
This sunscreen has been a staple in my routine for many months now. It is tinted and the tint is a touch too dark for me in the winter so I actually mix it with the Naturium Dew Glow. For those with dry or mature skin types, this is truly one of the best sunscreen serums I have ever tried. It leaves your skin nourished, glowy, plump and supple.
Naturium Dew-Glow Moisturizer SPF 50
I really do enjoy this sunscreen but once I finish it, I am going to go back to my Elta MD SPF 46. I like the dewy finish that gives the skin a bit more. This is super creamy and moisturizing but my skin needs a bit more now.
My Evening Routine
Cleanse
Elemis Cleansing Balm
I’ve been using this cleansing balm for years and it is fantastic at removing every last bit of makeup easily. Especially in the winter, it’s extra nourishing and moisturizing on my skin.
Colleen Rothschild Balancing Gel Cleanser
I am normally not a huge fan of many gel cleansers because they can foam up and really dry my skin out, but this one was an instant favorite! It makes my skin feel so fresh and clean without feeling tight or stripped.
Dieux Baptism Gel Cleanser
I recently began testing this and am really loving it as well. I alternate between this and the Colleen Rothschild as my second cleanse. It makes my skin super clean without feeling tight or dry after.
Toner/Essences
YSE Beauty Your Favorite Ex Exfoliating Pads (discount code: MAREE-15)
I love these resurfacing peel pads and use them once or twice a week to give me a chemical exfoliation.
Mediheal Collagen Ampoule Pads
On the nights I don’t use the YSE beauty pads, I will use these collagen pads.
Much like in the morning, I will pour this into my hands and pat into the skin.
Eye Cream
Neocutis Lumiere Firm Illuminating and Tightening Eye Cream
For right now, I have been liking to use this eye cream for both morning and night.
Serums/Retinols
Naturium Retinaldehyde Cream Serum .05%
I usually will use the Medik8 Crystal Retinal for my retinol treatment but decided to try this. It’s a great mild retinol with very little side effects but I need something stronger. I will go back to my Medik8 Crystal Retinal after this.
Timeless Skincare Matrixyl Synthe’ 6 Serum
Adding peptides into my skincare routine has been a game changer as I age. Peptides help with collagen production as well as plumping/firming the skin. This is similar in texture to my beloved Medik8 Liquid Peptides but at a much better price point. It’s not as plumping as the Medik8 but I do really enjoy it.
Educated Mess Freeze Frame Peptide Serum Concentrate
This peptide serum has been on my radar for the past year and was so excited to finally begin testing it. I am almost out of the Timeless serum and have begun alternating between this and the remaining bit of the Timeless. It has a slight tingling/cooling effect when on but I love how FIRM it makes the skin. Wow! It helps plump, firm, hydrate and improve the elasticity of the skin. It’s still new in my routine but so far it is really impressing me!
Rhode Glazing Milk
This is the step in my nighttime skincare routine where I have been placing my Rhode Glazing Milk. It’s an added layer of moisture and support that my skin needs in the winter.
Naturium Barrier Bounce
A holy grail for me at this point. On the nights I will skip retinol, I will use a peptide serum and a ceramide/barrier support serum. This is one of the best barrier support serums I have ever tried. It’s milky and instantly nourishing and gives the skin an insane glazed donut glow. I recommend this every person with dry or mature skin – it’s a must have!
TirTir Ceramic Milk Ampoule
Recently I began testing this cult classic and found it to be very similar in texture, feel and performance to the Naturium Barrier Bounce. I have been alternately between the two and honestly love both. I will be repurchasing both once I finish each.
Moisturizer
INNBEAUTY Extreme Cream
I will alternate between this moisturizer and the Mother Science one every other night. Both are fantastic at supporting the skin barrier and it’s why I rarely ever struggle with redness/flakiness when using stronger acids or retinols. Ensuring I use a barrier support moisturizer as my final step really gives my skin what it needs to be balanced and healthy. This one is a tad more dewy and glowy on the skin and is a bit more focused on lifting/firming. Either way, I will repurchase both of these because I find that my skin absolutely loves them.
Mother Science Molecular Genesis Barrier Repair Moisturizer (discount code: MAREESYE)
This just launched in January but I have been testing it since November. Mother Science sent me a lab sample to get my feedback and I was absolutely in love with it from the start. While its main focus is supporting the skin barrier, it also contains growth factors, peptides and an ingredient to help even out the skin tone. It’s been saving my skin this winter!
Skincare Tools
CurrentBody LED Mask (discount code: ALITTEBITCB)
I use this LED mask 6 nights a week after I cleanse and tone. I leave it on for 10 minutes and then continue with the rest of my skincare routine. I did a full review on the benefits here – it’s a splurge but really has made a difference! It’s the one device that I recommend to anyone looking to really invest in their skin long term. The results are slow and small but after using it for nearly 2 years, I can confidently say that it done more for my skin than nearly any product I use.
ZIIP Halo (discount code: MAREE)
I go in and out of using a microcurrent device for sculpting and firming the face because sometimes I am just lazy. Plain and simple. LOL The LED mask is so easy to use and requires little to no effort. However, I like the Ziip Halo in particular because the shape is much easier to hold and maneuver around the face. I’ve gone back to using this a few times a week and already notice how much more sculpted my jaw looks.
Face Masks
BioDance Bio Collagen Masks
I only use face masks a few times a week but this one is a must have at least once. I will apply after all of my skincare is on and leave it on for 4-5 hours. Some people sleep in them but I prefer to wear it during the day. I usually apply it on the weekend and it does wonders at giving my skin a nourishing and plumping treatment.
Colleen Rothschild Clarifying Detox Mask
For a mask to detoxify and clean out the pores, this one is a must have. It really cleans out my skin but doesn’t leave my face feeling too dry or tight. I use this every other week now that it is winter. Once summer comes, I will probably go back to using this once a week.
Clarins Cryo-Flash Instant Lift Effect & Glow Boosting Mask
This mask is a combination of great results and a product that is enjoyable to use. It’s designed to tighten, firm and give the skin a glow which it definitely does. It’s also super cold and has a menthol/cooling sensation to it that I absolutely love. I use this as needed when my skin needs to look its best for a night out or special occasion.
