Though my makeup seems to look the same year round, I do like to change it up slightly for each season. True spring makeup always makes me think of light colors, fresh skin, subtle pink tones, easy looks that can be suitable for a variety of occasions. That warmer weather always makes me want to reach for lighter and brighter colors. When it comes to what brushes I use for all my looks, these are my tried and true best makeup brushes (+ a discount code) with descriptions of how I use each one.
I like to keep most of my makeup looks lightweight to just enhance my natural features though I will switch up different textures and subtle neutrals to create some variety that all will look great with my spring outfits. I thought I would share a round up of a few different looks I’ve done recently that would be perfect for spring.
4 Light Spring Makeup Looks
Subtle Satin Spring Makeup Look (top left)
I call this a satin makeup look because I didn’t use a ton of super glowy products and chose formulas that have a more satin-like finish. I love this look for the workplace because it’s subtle but still looks polished and professional. Here’s a breakdown of all the products I used to achieve this look.
I start with the Ilia True Serum Skin Foundation because it’s a light to medium coverage foundation that gives a nice natural skin finish. I added the Natasha Denona HyGlam Concealer under my eyes to conceal any darkness. For the eyes, I applied a sheer wash of Trinny London’s cream eyeshadow in Mystery. It’s the perfect neutral taupe shade for everyday. I love the Tarte Tubing Mascara and added a few coats to my lashes and then defined my brows with the Hourglass Brow Tool in Soft Brunette (code: MAREE).
For the cheeks, I like to use a bronzer first so I applied the Charlotte Tilbury Cream Bronzer in shade Fair and then added Merit Beauty’s Blush Balm in Stockholm to the apples of my cheeks. It gives the perfect amount of pinky flush to the cheeks. I completed the look with a swipe of Haus Labs PhD Lip Glaze in Macaron – the most beautiful petal pink.
Glowy Golden Spring Makeup Look (top right)
This look is perfect for spring but will also transition well into a soft summer makeup look. It’s glowy, golden and radiant. The skin, cheeks and eyes are luminous but I wanted to balance that out with a soft matte lip. I love this look for a weekend brunch or afternoon with friends.
The entire look is almost all Laura Mercier products (discount code: MAREE20) and these are some of my favorites from her line. Starting with the Laura Mercier Real Flawless Finish Foundation which gives the skin a completely airbrushed appearance. I also used the new Laura Mercier Real Flawless Concealer under my eyes and love how hydrating it is while still giving great coverage. I quickly swiped on the Laura Mercier Caviar Stick Eyeshadow in Wild Rose which is the most perfect rose gold color. Also, I love the Tarte Tubing Mascara and added a few coats to my lashes and then defined my brows with the Hourglass Brow Tool in Soft Brunette (code: MAREE).
My cheeks have the most insane glow to them because of the Laura Mercier Liquid Highlighter in Peachy Bronze. It’s a blush, highlighter and bronzer all in one. Since my entire look is very glowy, I like to balance that out with a soft matte lip so I am wearing the Laura Mercier Petal Soft Lipstick Crayon in Amelie.
Petal Pink Spring Makeup Look (bottom left)
Even though I’m not a huge lover of pink clothing or pink makeup, there is something about spring that allows for an exception. LOL I love how bright and fresh a rose lip looks with a vibrant pinky cheek.
I used the new Sisley Phyto-Teint Perfection foundation for this look as it gives a nice luminous matte finish with medium coverage. Even though the foundation covers everything, I did add a few dabs of the Natasha Denona HyGlam concealer under my eyes to add some brightness. The Sisley Liquid Eyeshadows are one of my favorites as they give a subtle satin finish to the eye and are easy to blend. I am wearing the shade 1 Champagne here with a few coats of the Tarte Tubing Mascara and the Hourglass Brow Pencil in Soft Brunette.
I warmed up my cheeks a bit with the Chanel Cream Bronzer in Tan Bronze. And then applied the Sisley Blush in Pink Peony to the apples of my cheeks. I finished the look with the Sisley Phyto Lip Twist in shade 15 which is the perfect everyday pinky rose. This look would be a great option for any spring events such as a graduation, Mother’s Day lunch, wedding/baby shower, etc.
Mauve and Pink Spring Makeup Look (bottom right)
Though I am someone that gravitates towards more warm neutrals, I wanted to experiment with some cooler toned makeup and loved it! The eye is much more shimmery and would look great for a spring evening out.
The L’Oreal True Match Hyaluronic Acid Tinted Serum sounds like it would be a super sheer skin tint but it actually gives great coverage! I am wearing it here with the L’Oreal True Match Serum Concealer under the eyes. The RMS Beauty Eyelights Cream Eyeshadow in Strobe is a cool toned neutral and is a tad darker than the other makeup looks I have shown. I love it alone or worn under another powder eyeshadow like I did here. I tapped on a bit of shimmer from the Natasha Denona I Need a Nude Palette which is a great light spring palette and finished the eye look with my Tarte Tubing mascara and the Hourglass Brow Pencil in Soft Brunette.
Since I wanted to keep things more cool toned, I chose the Nudestix Contour Stick in Light Neutral for my cheeks and then added the Jones Road Beauty Lip and Cheek Stick in Bright Pink just to the apples. For the lips, I lined them with the Jones Road Beauty Lip Liner in Nude Rose and then added the Haus Labs PhD Lip Glaze in Macaron on top.
