I’ve never been great at layering. I always love the way it looks, but anytime I try it I feel bulky, nothing fits properly and it’s uncomfortable. I always laugh and say I feel like Ralphie’s little brother in ‘A Christmas Story’, who puts on his snowsuit and whines “I can’t put my arms down”. Hahahahahaha! However, the key to layering is finding the right fit. This sweater I snagged during the Club Monaco holiday sale has a really wide silhouette with bell sleeves and a slight A-line shape to the bottom of it. So I figured if I wore a very lightweight slim-fitting button down shirt underneath, it would be a more proportionate fit. And I was right! The shorter, wider length of the sweater paired with the longer, slimmer length of the blouse made for the perfect combination. It’s also the easiest way to stay warm without having to add a bulky coat. I love getting inspiration from other bloggers and street style, but not every look works for my body type. But that doesn’t mean I can’t find a way to eventually make it work! And for those gals who have a bigger bust (yup, I hide it well), these Rails blouses are a perfect fit without any gaping. Though I still secure the spaces between the buttons with this tape, but the draped fit is super flattering.
