Sandals in fall can be a tricky thing. I feel there is a short window of time that they look acceptable, and then after a certain point it is just too cold. And too ridiculous. Unless of course you live somewhere warm and then go ahead with your sandal wearing self. The rest of us will seethe with envy while we stomp around in snow boots. The key for me in styling sandals for fall is keeping my outfit still somewhat lightweight without adding any extremely heavy pieces or accessories. A vest, leather jacket, sweater cardigan or trench are what I would feel be the heaviest outerwear that could still work with sandals. I prefer styling them with jeans or pants (or even longer denim shorts) in fall rather than a skirt. A skirt and sandals = spring/summer. Pants/jeans and sandals = spring/summer/fall.
Moving on to the actual pieces I am wearing – can we stop for a second and chat about this utility vest?! I have been wearing my utility jacket for years which is a staple in my closet, so a vest seemed like the next best thing. And a striped tee is necessary any time of the year – I am forever collecting them when I find one I like. For other great pieces to pair with sandals, I rounded up a ton of cute tunics, tees and sweaters that I think would look great styled with sandals. Scroll through the widget below.
