I’m typically a fan of liquid or cream foundations since my skin has really changed over the past few years. I need the extra moisture that liquid foundations or skin tints provide but I do love the ease of a foundation stick. I have heard amazing things about the Fenty Beauty Eaze Drop Stick Foundation so I decided to order one to test. Stick foundations often provide more coverage and can be creamy though not as moisturizing as liquid formulations. They are quick and easy to apply and many are quite long wearing. The Fenty Beauty Eaze Drop Blur + Smooth Tint Stick is a lightweight formula designed to blur imperfections, provide a natural skin-like finish and melt easily into the skin. For the most part, I agree with this description but for my mature skin, I did need to add a touch more moisture since my skin is now on the drier side. This post will go into more depth about the product, how it performed, who I think it would be best for and if it is worth trying.
Fenty Beauty Eaze Drop Stick Review
First impressions of the formula was that it is a like but not a love. It gives a nice finish though I would like a touch more of a glow. It is incredibly long wearing which I appreciate so this is great for someone who needs their foundation to last all day long.
Price Point
This stick foundation is a mid range price point at $36 for .32 oz.
Packaging
The packaging is traditional as with most stick foundations. You twist up the product to use and can either swipe it on directly to the face or onto the back of your hand and apply from there. Honestly Fenty packaging isn’t insanely luxe in my opinion and isn’t my favorite in terms of actual aesthetic. However, the formula is the most important thing though it does help when the packaging adds to the experience of using the product. I don’t really feel that the packaging adds to the experience but is functional and accurate which is fine.
Coverage
This is light coverage but can be built up slightly to medium coverage. If you prefer a more full coverage foundation, the iconic Double Wear Estee Lauder Foundation and Tirtir Cushion Foundation are both great options.
Finish
The description of this foundation states that it gives a blurred, natural skin finish which I agree with. My skin is a touch on the drier side so it does skew a bit more soft matte on my skin rather than a fresh skin-like finish. If you like the shade range and formulation of the Fenty Beauty Eaze Drop Blur + Smooth Tint Stick but want a liquid texture, try the Fenty Beauty Eaze Drop Blurring Skin Tint.
Shade Range
This is Fenty Beauty and they are known for an inclusive shade range. There is a total of 25 shades to choose from and they do a fantastic job of providing a shade for nearly every skin tone.
Longevity
I figured from the first swipe of this foundation that it would be long wearing and it definitely is. It did not budge nearly all day and still looked great after 8+ hours. I will mention that because my skin is more dry, I did need to mist my face a few times throughout the day because I needed the moisture. I am curious how this will wear during the summer when it is hot and humid.
Ingredients
This is definitely more of a makeup product than a makeup/skincare hybrid. It makes my skin look nice but doesn’t necessarily nourish or moisturize like some other formulas I use. There is murumuru butter in it designed to help provide all day hydration but my skin definitely needs more. There is a Quickblur complex that gives that blurred, smooth finish and sodium hyaluronate to also help provide hydration. For those with oily or combination skin, the added skincare ingredients would be enough to hydrate but those with drier skin types may need a more intensive skin prep routine before.
Is Fenty Beauty Foundation Worth It?
I really enjoy this formula and love the ease of using a stick foundation. I am not quite sure it is suitable for my skin type in the winter because I found my skin feeling a tad tight throughout the day. My skin never LOOKED dry but felt dry and I had to keep misting it. I have not yet tried this in the summer so I think it would be better suited to the warmer weather for me so I will still keep it and use it when summer comes back around. If you have oily or combination skin, I think this would work year round for you and you may not need to even set it with powder during the colder months.
Swatches of the Fenty Beauty Eaze Drop Stick Foundation
Shade 2 is a good match for me and will work both in winter and in summer. In the above pictures, the finish looks quite dewy but it does settle down after a few minutes to be a natural finish with not as much radiance. Like I shared before, this is a like but not a love.
How To Use Fenty Beauty Eaze Drop Stick?
Prep the Skin
Though this is a cream foundation, it works best when you skin is moisturized and prepped. I will often add a layer of the Rhode Glazing Milk right before I apply my foundations because it gives my skin a quick boost of moisture that allows my foundations to glide on effortlessly.
Start Small
Because this is a light to medium coverage foundation, I still recommend using a light hand to apply. You can always build it up if needed.
Use a Damp Sponge for Less Coverage
If you want less coverage, use a damp makeup sponge or fingers to apply the product all over.
Use a Makeup Brush for More Coverage
If you want to build up coverage or prefer a more fuller coverage application, choose a stiff kabuki style brush to buff in the product. This is my favorite foundation brush at the moment to use – it blends in product effortlessly (my discount code is MAREE10).
Set With Powder If Needed
Though this foundation is very long wearing, you can still set it with a setting powder and help extend the wear even more. Especially if you are oily or combination, use a setting powder through your t-zone to help mattify and set.
