The month before fall officially begins and the first few weeks of fall can be a tricky time in terms of deciding what to wear. It’s chilly in the mornings but warm in the afternoons. I have a few key pieces in my closet that I reach for during this time that are perfect for this in-between weather. Lightweight Sweaters

The beginning of fall is the best time to wear all those super thin and lightweight sweaters without needing to layer yet. I love sticking with solid colors and bringing some interest to my outfit through accessories and jewelry. Style it with trousers like I did above which is perfect for the workplace but then you can also wear a simple lightweight sweater with denim or even a midi slip skirt.

Blazers become the outerwear choice when the weather begins to cool down a bit but it’s not yet true coat temperatures. There are so many gorgeous blazer styles that can instantly elevate any look. I prefer a blazer with a structured shape so something that darts in at the waist is my favorite silhouette when shopping for a blazer. Obviously blazers look great with workwear trousers and pants, but I love wearing blazers with all my favorite denim for a chic polished weekend look.

From now until the beginning of November (maybe a bit longer depending on where you live), pull out all those short sleeved sweaters that never seemed to work for any other season. I LOVE a short sleeve sweater style and find them to be the perfect in between clothing item for this time of year.

A billowy boho blouse in a gorgeous fall print is one of my go-to looks during this time of the year. It looks great with dark wash denim and neutral accessories – perfect for a fall afternoon out wine tasting or shopping. Most of my closet is neutrals but I usually opt for prints when it comes to my blouse collection.
Button Down Blouses

Obviously button down blouses are great all year round but because fall is the perfect blend of warm and cool temps together, you can really show off all your crisp blouses without hiding them under a coat or cardigan. I personally always have a rotation of striped blouses in my collection for fall and think they look so sharp worn with just about anything.
Sweater Dress

Fall will forever be synonymous with sweater dresses. There is nothing more quintessentially fall than a sweater dress with boots. There are a ton of different style and lengths to choose from so go for whatever fits your personal style. I would skip ankle boots with a sweater dress unless it is a maxi dress and doesn’t leave a gap between the top of the boot and the bottom of the dress. A knee high boot will always look more modern and flattering with a sweater dress.
