Best Tinted Sunscreens for Mature SkinI wear sunscreen every single day whether it’s sunny outside or not. It’s a skincare non-negotiable for me. Finding complexion products for mature skin can be challenging because not all formulas are compatible with mature skin because of it’s texture, dryness or dullness. Recently I have been testing out a handful of different tinted sunscreens to wear as my everyday foundation or complexion product and found some great formulas that would be beautiful for mature skin.

Even though these tinted sunscreens provide adequate and substantial sun protection on their own, I usually still layer my daily sunscreen underneath for added protection. You don’t necessarily have to do that. But in order to apply enough sunscreen to get the proper protection I usually find that it’s too much product for me when it comes to tinted sunscreens. My solution is to use my regular sunscreen underneath and my tinted sunscreen as my foundation or skin tint. Here are 5 tinted sunscreens that I love for mature skin.

5 Best Tinted Sunscreens For Mature Skin

Bloomeffects Tulip Dew Sunscreen Serum SPF 50 (discount code: Maree)

This sunscreen has been a staple in my routine for nearly a year. For those with dry or mature skin types, this is truly one of the best sunscreen serums I have ever tried. It leaves your skin nourished, glowy, plump and supple. If you want to reapply sunscreen throughout the day (you definitely should) there is also a stick version of this which is so easy to carry with you! The Bloomeffects Tulip Dew Sunscreen Serum is a 100% mineral broad spectrum SPF 50 with a lightweight serum texture. It provides protection against UVA & UVB rays, pollution, blue light and free radicals.

Out of all the sunscreens in this list, the Bloomeffects Tulip Dew Sunscreen Serum gives the sheerest coverage. It can’t even really be described as coverage but more like a slight pigment that helps to even out the skin tone and color correct. For those who really want the least amount of coverage while still getting a gorgeous luminous finish, this is fantastic option. I usually wear it underneath my foundation or skin tint. But on days that I don’t want to wear any makeup but still want to reduce redness and give my skin a bit of a glow, this is what I reach for.

Colorescience Sunforgettable Total Protection Face Shield Flex SPF 50

I’ve heard so many great things about this tinted SPF so I’m not sure why it took me so long to try it – but I am HERE NOW FOR IT!!! I can now understand why this has so much buzz surrounding it because the formulation is 10/10. This is a tinted SPF that goes on white and then transforms into a skin tone shade when you blend it in. The coverage is sheer but can be built up slightly to really even out the skin tone and conceal small imperfections. The finish is dewy which I personally love because my skin is more dull and dry these days. But it may not be a good option for those with oily skin.

I have to mention that the product is marketed as having a demi-matte finish which I don’t really agree with. There is a slight velvety look to the finish which is nice for helping give the face a smooth finish. But for me it is more radiant than matte. It wears beautifully throughout the day and also works well underneath makeup as a great base or primer. There are only six shades available so not very inclusive. But the tint is designed to be more self-adjusting rather than an exact match.

Naked Sundays BeautyScreen SPF 50 Peptide Foundation Tint

This is an Australian brand and honestly if there is one country that understands sun protection – it is Australia! This is a thin and lightweight tint that gives sheer coverage but enough to wear as your daily makeup. It’s formulated with peptides and squalane so it delivers skincare benefits while also providing a light tint for everyday. If you have sensitive skin, this may be a great option. It has different ingredients in it to help calm and soothe the skin. There are 15 shades available in the range with a good mix of fair, medium and deep tones.

It states that there is a demi-matte finish but I did not find that to be the case. There is a definite radiant satin finish to this tinted SPF. So it’s great for those with dry and mature skin. It provides moisturizing properties so you could use this as both your moisturizer, SPF and complexion product for the day. It is not as dewy as some of the other formulas in this group. So it could work for oily and combination skin types too. Though you may get a bit shiny in the t-zone throughout the day.

Merit Beauty The Uniform Tinted Mineral Sunscreen SPF 45

Merit Beauty has been hit or miss with me but this tinted mineral sunscreen was an instant hit. It is gorgeous and truly feels undetectable on the skin while still giving amazing coverage. This formula is not as dewy as some of the others in this list so it would be great for almost all skin types. Though I still think something with oily or combination skin may need a setting powder for the t-zone. But for those with mature skin types (dry, oily, sensitive, etc), this is a must try! It gives much more coverage than I anticipated. So I like to start with a small amount and build up as needed since the formula is more on the buildable side.

It has some blurring properties which I immediately saw as soon as it was applied. And it makes the skin look smooth, even, and has a velvety-like radiant finish. It is extremely long wearing and looks great at the end of the day with little to no separation. The shade range is better than most of the other options on this list though there are only 15 shades total. It ranges from very fair to very deep with an impressive extension throughout.

RMS Beauty SunCoverup Super Tint Broad Spectrum SPF 50 Sunscreen (discount code: Maree-15)

The RMS Beauty SunCoverup Super Tint is a silicone-free tinted moisturizer designed to even out the complexion while also providing sun and blue light protection. If I had to place it in one category, I would put it in the complexion category versus the sunscreen category even with the high level SPF. This tint has a very glowy and dewy finish and stays that way nearly the entire day. It doesn’t get shinier as the day goes on, but it doesn’t set to a natural finish – it stays very glowy overall. As someone with slightly dry and mature skin, I enjoy the dewy finish. But if you want something more natural, this is not it. It gives that fresh “just had a facial” dewy skin which I personally love.

Though this is positioned as a skin tint, the SunCoverup gives really great coverage. I only have to use a tiny amount to cover nearly  my entire face. The pigment in this is strong so it will cover most imperfections in one application. The directions say to apply liberally but I would recommend being light-handed with it and build it up where you need it.
