My skin is currently struggling with all this cold weather we have had the past few weeks. As someone who used to have oily/combination skin but now has dry/mature skin, I am constantly on the hunt for products to help soothe and comfort my skin in the winter. And because my skin is changing so much (thank you, perimenopause), things that used to work for me no longer do so I am always trying to find what will make my skin happy in the present. I’ve been cycling through a handful of products to figure out what can help my skin not feel so dry, tight and uncomfortable. After a bit of trial and error, here are 10 products that are saving my dry skin this winter.
10 Best Skincare Products For Dry Skin
Elemis Pro Collagen Cleansing Balm
I’ve been using the Elemis Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm for nearly 10 years and loved it from my very first use. It’s one of the best cleansers to remove makeup (even waterproof makeup) and leaves my skin feeling nourished, moisturized and soft. None of that “squeaky clean” feeling that often cleansers will leave me with – which often means it has stripped my skin of all the necessary moisture and oils leaving it dry and dehydrated. A really good cleansing balm should give a thorough deep clean without stripping the skin.
What makes the Elemis cleansing balm so effective is its various essential oil and plant oil ingredients that clean the skin while still leaving it balanced and nourished. It is also mineral-oil free and suitable for ALL skin types.
Experiment Plasma Wash (discount code: MAREE15)
As someone who LOVES a unique texture especially when it comes to cleansers, the Experiment Plasma Face Wash is favorite of mine. It’s technically a gel cream but has a jelly-like feel to it. It is chock full of super nourishing ingredients to really support those with mature dry skin types. This formula uses glycerin depositing compounds that delivers moisture that remains on the skin even after you rinse. It doesn’t leave a film but it makes the skin feel intensely nourished and supple much like a serum or moisturizer would do.
Aestura Moisturizing Cream Mist
This Moisturizing Cream Mist is one of the creamiest mists I’ve ever tried. I have dry, mature skin so I am always looking for intensely nourishing products to add into my routine. Formulated with ceramides to support the skin barrier, this feels instantly comforting on the skin BUT it does leave a slight film. It doesn’t feel like a typical facial mist that absorbs instantly or dissipates a few seconds after spraying it. This leaves a creamy and nourishing finish that I absolutely love.
La Roche-Posay Cicaplast B5 Soothing Repair Spray
The La Roche-Posay Cicaplast B5 Baume is one of my must have products for healing my skin when it is irritated. This is the spray version of the Cicaplast formula and works wonders for an overall repair mist. Especially with the cold winter temps right now, this has been on regular rotation.
Experiment Beauty Super Saturated Serum (discount code: MAREE15)
If your skin is feeling dehydrated or lacking moisture, this hydrating serum will solve all your problems. It is a barrier support serum so it will help strengthen and protect the skin barrier while also delivering intense hydration. The serum is formulated with 30% glycerin as well as a ton of other humectants. So it will also aid in helping your skin hold onto that moisture all day long. This is a thicker serum so layer it accordingly in your skincare routine (thinnest to thickest) but it will truly help increase your skin’s hydration immediately as well as for the long term.
Experiment Beauty Molecular Mesh (discount code: MAREE15)
This barrier strengthening moisturizer has been one of my favorite products to finish off my evening skincare routine. It’s a semi-rich formula that feels nourishing but does have a bit of a tacky/bouncy feel to it. I personally love that because it leaves my skin so firm and supple. The tacky texture doesn’t last however and this moisturizer absorbs beautifully into the skin after only a few minutes. My skin feels plump, calm and instantly nourished.
Dieux Deliverance Serum
The Dieux Deliverance serum is a 3-in-1 serum that helps to firm, smooth, calm and support the skin barrier. This will address fine lines and loss of elasticity but will also target redness, a damaged skin barrier and uneven skin tone. For anyone with redness, irritation or inflamed skin, this serum immediately helps to soothe and calm. While it’s great to use every day, it’s also a great post-treatment serum or the serum you use when your skin is having a reaction to another product.
Bloomeffects Royal Tulip Moisturizing Nectar (discount code: Maree)
If you struggle with stubborn dry patches, eczema prone skin or intense dryness, this moisturizing nectar is a miracle worker! It’s a healing ointment-to-serum that intensely nourishes the skin barrier and locks in moisture. In addition to helping calm, soothe and nourish, it works wonders for helping plump the skin and addresses fine lines.
TirTir Ceramic Milk Ampoule
The TirTir Ceramic Milk Ampoule is a 3-in-1 milky serum designed to provide skin barrier support, deep hydration and nourishment for the skin. After the first time trying it, I fell in love with the way it made my skin feel and look. Since my skin has progressively been getting drier with the colder weather, I seek out products that help to moisturize my skin but also leave it looking glassy and dewy. This is a very thick milky serum so I will use it as my last serum before moisturizer or in place of moisturizer some nights.
OneSkin OS-01 Lip Mask (discount code: MAREE15)
I must own a millions lip balms and lip masks currently but this newest one from OneSkin is the only formula that I’ve been wearing to bed each night. Formulated with their proprietary OS-01 peptide, this lip mask deeply hydrates all night long. I wake up in the morning and my lips still have some on from the night before!
