I will forever love a one and done eyeshadow look. Eyeshadow does not have to be difficult or complicated to apply and you can get a gorgeous look with simply one product. 90% of the time when I am wearing makeup, I am wearing one eyeshadow on the lid. Sometimes I will throw my bronzer in the crease to add some depth and warmth but most of the time it is just one single color. I tend to gravitate towards cream eye shadows but have a handful of powder formulas that I use regularly too.
One of the cream eye shadow formulas I reach for often are the RMS Beauty Eyelights. These are a long wearing cream eye shadow designed to give a light reflective and luminous finish to the lids. I know that shimmer shadow can be daunting to wear as you age especially because it can highlight crepey skin and any texture. However, these RMS Beauty Eyelights are designed with a mature skin in mind and while they do give a gorgeous glow to the lids, they also help to smooth and firm them as well. I have a handful of shades that I love and wear so I thought I would share swatches of them as well as a more detailed review of why I love these eye shadows.
RMS Beauty Eyelights Review
The RMS Beauty Eyelights are a cream shadow that is formulated to be long wearing, creaseproof while also nourishing the skin on the eyes. All the shades have a shimmer finish but manage to leave the eyelids looking luminous without too much glitter or sparkle. They are easy to wear alone, layer under your favorite powder shadow or layer over a powder shadow. The formula and ease of use allows for it to be a versatile product.
Price Point
These are a mid range price eyeshadow at $28. (my discount code: Maree-15 will get you 15% off!) I will say that because I use such a TINY amount each time I use them, I predict these will last me a very long time.
Packaging
Ugh, this is the only negative point about the product but it must be mentioned. These come in a squeeze up metal tube and can be a bit messy. And when you first few times you use the tube, a lot of product comes out which can be a bit wasteful. I have not figured out a way to get around this so if you have any suggestions, let me know!
Colors
There is a gorgeous range of wearable everyday colors mostly in neutral creams, browns and tans. But I love that there is also a few colors in violet and sage green for those that want a bit more of a pop. These shades aren’t too vibrant and are still subtle and quite wearable.
Longevity
These are some of my longest wearing cream shadows and don’t crease.
Pigment
These are richly pigmented but can easily be sheered out to give just a wash of color. And while the swatches of the shades make them look VERY shimmery, when you blend them out on the lids the shimmer becomes more diffused and less intense.
Swatches of RMS Beauty Eyelights
I have four of the RMS Beauty Eyelight shades and while they all look very different in the tube, they all look a tad similar when swatched on the arm. Strobe, Blaze and Supernova are a tad darker in tone so I like to sheer them out on the lid for a subtle daytime look. In the above picture I am wearing Supernova all over my lid and then tapped a bit of Moondust onto the center of the lid to lighten up the overlook look. As you can see, the shimmer is bold but not too glittery or sparkly. Here’s a breakdown of all the shades available in the Eyelights and a short description of each:
- Flare – deep warm gold
- Sunbeam – golden coral with a hint of peach
- Aurora – vibrant violet
- Moondust – starlit champagne
- Supernova – sterling chocolate
- Strobe – champagne mink
- Eclipse – mossy silver
- Halo – rich ruby brown
- Spark – bronzed plum with a hint of violet
- Blaze – muted silvery mauve
