Laura Mercier has been a makeup and beauty brand that I’ve been using for longer than I’ve been blogging (nearly 12 years). I’ve used a ton of her products in my routine off and on for years. Some I have loved and some I have liked. Most of the products are not necessarily groundbreaking but do stay consistent and true to what most of her customers have come to expect from the brand. Recently the Real Flawless Weightless Perfecting Foundation went viral on TikTok and I realized that I have never done a proper review on it. I was first a tad underwhelmed with the formula but took me some time to play around with it, figure out exactly how best to use it and now I have come to really love the formula!
In addition to this recent buzz surrounding the foundation, Laura Mercier just launched the Real Flawless Perfecting Concealer so I thought I would include both in a review along with tips on how I use both. Also, I have a discount code that works on the entire Laura Mercier site – use code: MAREE20 for 20% off anything!
Laura Mercier Real Flawless Foundation Review
Designed to be a long-wearing and fade proof formula, the Laura Mercier Real Flawless Weightless Perfecting Waterproof Foundation is perfect for those wanting a more medium to fuller coverage foundation. Something that gives significant coverage and will last all day. It says it is suitable for all skin types and find that it looks beautiful on my normal to dry skin. This is not a skin tint or a sheer foundation that will just give a touch of coverage and even out the complexion. If you apply too much, it can look cakey and heavy so start with a small amount and build up as needed.
Shade Range
The shade range is extensive (30 total) for light to medium skin tones, but still lacking in the deeper skin tones. There needs to be more variety in the medium to deep options so I hope they work on expanding the range in the future.
Price Point
It definitely falls in the mid-range in terms of price (but my discount code: MAREE20 will get you 20% off!) at $52 but based on the pigment in the foundation, you only need a small amount. For that reason, I definitely think it could last you a long time to help justify the price point.
Coverage
This is a medium to full coverage foundation so it will cover nearly everything you need it to.
Finish
It gives a natural skin-like finish without being too matte or too dewy. I really love the way my skin looks with it!
Longevity
The claims are true. I can wear this foundation nearly 8+ hours and it doesn’t move. No breaking apart, no fading – it looks as if I just applied it.
Laura Mercier Real Flawless Finish Foundation Swatches
I am wearing shade 1N2 Vanille and it is a perfect match for me. There are cool, neutral and warm undertones available but I prefer to choose neutral undertones as they look the best on my skin.
How to Apply the Real Flawless Foundation?
Start small
Apply just a tiny bit to each part of the face and blend out. It has a TON of pigment and if you are too heavy-handed, you can apply to much and it will look too heavy on the skin.
Prep the skin
While the formulation is suited for all skin types, I find that making sure my skin is well prepped and moisturized before is key. I typically like to apply a bit of my Rhode Glazing Milk or my Charlotte Tilbury setting spray before so my skin is slightly damp. The foundation seems to melt into the skin this way.
Apply with a brush/blend with a sponge
I like applying this foundation with a brush (this is the one I use) and then I go over the entire face with a damp makeup sponge to melt the foundation even further into the skin. Adding the additional moisture from the sponge really gives it a skin-like finish and sheers out the formula a tad bit more.
Laura Mercier Real Flawless Weightless Perfecting Concealer Review
While it took me a bit to get into the Real Flawless Foundation, I immediately fell in love with the Laura Mercier Real Flawless Weightless Perfecting Concealer. It is designed to be a buildable coverage concealer that gives a flawless natural finish. I wear concealer every day under my eyes and want adequate coverage but still need something that won’t get cakey and make my fine lines look more visible. At 44, my under eyes are smooth but can be dry and have more fine lines than years ago. Many fuller coverage concealers are too much for me and end up looking too heavy and unflattering under my eyes. I was pleasantly surprised with how well the Laura Mercier Real Flawless Perfecting Concealer performed and made my under eye area look.
Texture
It’s a serum-like formula that goes on smoothly and feels so creamy and hydrating.
Shade Range
There are 22 shades and fall into three categories of neutral, cool and warm undertones. The shade range is still somewhat unbalanced in my opinion with there being an adequate number of light to medium options and not enough variety for medium deep to dark skin tones.
Price Point
As with the foundation, it is a mid-range price point at $33. (my discount code: MAREE20 will get you 20% off)
Longevity
Both the foundation and concealer and incredibly long-wearing and last nearly 8+ hours on me with no creasing.
Laura Mercier Real Flawless Perfecting Concealer Swatches
The three shades I have are 0N1, 1N0 and 0W1. My favorite shade to wear is 0N1 and that is the one I am wearing in the above pictures. It’s light but not too light for me – it’s the perfect color to brighten under the eyes for me.
How to Apply the Laura Mercier Real Flawless Concealer?
Apply anywhere
The creamy texture and easy to blend formula makes this a perfect concealer to wear under the eyes and anywhere else on the face you want to give more coverage.
Blend with a brush
Because of the serum-like texture, using a sponge to blend the concealer will result in the sponge sucking up product and making you apply more. I apply the product only where I need it and blend it out with a concealer brush.
Find your correct shade
Determine if you want to use the concealer only under the eyes or everywhere first before picking a shade. I prefer to only use concealer under my eyes and sometimes around the edge of my nose if it’s red, so I like a shade that is slightly lighter than my skin tone in order to brighten. If you want to use the concealer anywhere on the face, I would choose a shade closer to your skin tone so it blends right in.
If you want to try either of these, be sure to use my discount code: MAREE20 to get 20% off.
