It can be such a challenge to find a concealer that fits all your needs AND works for your skin tone. There are so many formulas to choose from and the shade ranges are extensive. I have very fair skin so I thought I would share all the current concealers I have and use with swatch comparisons for each. If you are someone with very fair or light skin, these are many of the shades and formulas that I really enjoy. I usually only wear concealer under my eyes so I will often try to find a shade a tad lighter than my skin tone in order to brighten and illuminate. Some of the shades I have work for only under my eyes while other shades work everywhere on the face. These are all pale girl-approved LOL and would be great options if you are looking for something new.
Concealer For Fair Skin
Natasha Denona HyGlam Concealer in shade N1
As soon as this was launched, I immediately ordered it. The shade range is amazing (50 colors + 6 correcting concealer shades). And it is formulated to be a serum-like concealer with medium to buildable full coverage. You can instantly feel the serum texture as soon as you swipe it on the skin. It’s incredibly creamy, hydrating and smoothing yet still covers anything and everything I need. It contains biomimetic pigments and texture-perfecting microspheres which gives it a flawless and slightly blurring aspect. I wear the shade N1 and it’s perfect for under my eyes as well as to conceal dark spots on my face.
It’s incredibly long-wearing and does not crease. It is suitable for all skin types but especially if you struggle with dry under eyes, this formula is perfect! I can see why it has become a favorite amongst makeup artists AND consumers too. Read my full dedicated review post here.
Kosas Revealer Brightening Concealer in shade 01N
I really love the Kosas Revealer Skin-Improving Foundation so I really wanted to try the concealer and see if it performed as well. I really enjoy this concealer and love the color though I’m not sure I would repurchase. It’s creamy and hydrating. But I still prefer the Natasha Denona HyGlam Concealer or the Hourglass Vanish Concealer. It does have caffeine in it which helps with puffiness and dark under eye circles as well as arnica to calm any blemishes. It’s a great concealer to use anywhere on the face and gives a nice radiant finish. I wear shade 01N and love how bright it is for under my eyes.
Hourglass Vanish Concealer in Creme and Silk
I need to repurchase this because I recently finished mine. I wanted to include it in this post because it is one of my favorite concealers of all time (and they are cruelty free!). It’s a medium to full coverage liquid concealer that manages to feel weightless on the skin. It never gets cakey under my eyes and blends effortlessly. It also contains microspherical powders that blur imperfections and makes the skin look flawless. A must try for everyone!
Rare Beauty Positive Light Under Eye Brightener in Light
Most of the other concealers in this post are designed to conceal and provide coverage, but this Rare Beauty Under Eye Brightener is best used for brightening only. It comes with a metal applicator that feels amazing and immediately cooling under the eyes. You can use it on other parts of the face, but I prefer to keep this for the eye area only. It gives very sheer coverage so it illuminates, brightens and makes the skin look so fresh and radiant. I wear the shade Light. Read my full dedicated blog post here.
Laura Mercier Real Flawless Perfecting Serum Concealer in shade 0W1 and 0N1 (discount code: MAREE20)
This is the newest concealer addition to my collection and it was an instant hit! Much like the Natasha Denona HyGlam Concealer, this one from Laura Mercier is a serum-like formula that feels super creamy and lightweight. It’s a medium coverage concealer with a subtle natural finish. It’s incredibly long wearing and works well on any parts of the face. The shade range is extensive but the deeper shades could be expanded ever further so I hope they do that. The shade I wear is 0N1. Read my full dedicated blog post here.
L’Oreal True Match Serum Concealer in shade W1 and N1
I have a few serum concealers in my collection that are all quite amazing so I was not sure how this drugstore version would compare. Like the Tinted Serum Foundation, the L’Oreal True Match Radiant Serum Concealer contains skincare ingredients that help to hydrate and smooth the under eye area. It’s can be used anywhere on the face that you want to conceal. I had high hopes for this concealer after loving both the foundation and tinted serum so much and I am happy to say that it lived up to my expectations.
Saie Beauty Slip Tint Radiant All-Over Concealer in Shade 1
The Saie Beauty Slip Tint Radiant All-Over Concealer is a hydrating creamy concealer designed to be use anywhere on the face. It can be used to concealer dark circles, spot treat blemishes, even out the complexion or conceal redness. I personally like to use it for under my eyes specifically to help brighten and counteract any darkness. This is a medium coverage product with a hydrating formula that leaves a radiant finish. While it is supposed to last up to 12 hours, I found that it wasn’t as long lasting on me as some other concealers I use and love. But it was incredibly creamy and made my under eye area look really fresh and hydrated.
How to Choose Concealer Shade?
Where Will You Use the Concealer
You will often use different shades of concealer depending on where you will be using it on the face. If you are just using it under the eyes to brighten and conceal dark circles, it’s best to go a shade or two lighter. If you plan on using it everywhere, choose a shade closest to your regular skin tone.
Sephora Shade Finder
Sephora does offer a shade finder quiz on their site that can help you find the correct foundation and/or concealer shade.
Determine Your Undertone
This applies to finding a foundation shade as well but it’s best to know your undertone before choosing a concealer shade. There are often warm, neutral or cool undertone options for most foundation and concealer shades.
Use What You Have As a Guide
If you already have a concealer shade you love, try to find the exact shade details which will help you determine what to look for. I personally tend to like concealers with neutral undertones so that is what I will search for when looking at a new formula.
