This is my first piece from Ulla Johnson, but I have had my eye on her clothing for the past year. While I love a fun boho inspired outfit, I prefer things with a bit more of a classic look. However I find that her clothing tends to straddle that line perfectly and I have so many things on my wish list. Though I adore this top, I was unsure it would work for someone like myself with a bigger chest. With the billowy style, it can be hit or miss so I sized up and thankfully it worked perfectly. I am particularly looking forward to wearing this when it gets super hot this summer. The fabric is thin and gauzy yet surprisingly not see through. I wore this during our stay in Memphis pairing it with comfortable white jeans and yes….these sandals again. They are so comfortable that I keep reaching for them whenever we have to do a lot of walking. Some of these photos were taken on Beale Street in Memphis, an iconic street known for blues clubs and bars. It was lively though at night I have heard it is quite a sight with lots of neon signs and music playing. Rather than doing a separate Memphis travel diary, I figured I would tack it on to the post. Below are my outfit details along with more Ulla Johnson pieces I am loving. Following that are the places we visited and a few fun food spots we enjoyed!

Murals in Memphis
It’s should be no surprise by now that I love finding murals. Maybe it’s the blogger in me, but even before blogging I was always drawn to them and loved hunting them out in NYC when living there. Memphis has no shortage of murals like Nashville, and on this day we managed to find 3 adorable ones all within walking distance from each other. In the Cooper-Young area (near the Urban Outfitters), we stumbled upon the I love Memphis one, then while walking back to the car, we found the other two on adjacent buildings. So naturally we took photos in front of all three. They are all quite different, but fun and vibrant – and of course make for a great photo opp.
Interesting Places To See
1. The Peabody Hotel – There is only one thing that makes this place famous and worth visiting – the ducks. There are these ducks that live at the hotel and take the elevator down each day to bathe in the fountain. It’s become a huge tourist attraction, and everyone gathers in this lobby to watch the ducks bathe and then waddle their way back onto the elevator. They were really adorable, and totally worth the stop in to witness the spectacle.
2. Beale Street – This street is lined with bars, clubs, restaurants and souvenir shops and while it is a bit touristy, it was fun to see while we were in town. Many of the places play live music, one of them being the legendary B.B. King’s. It’s good for a quick stroll and some fun pictures, but there are definitely better options for eating in the city.
Places We Ate
1. Muddy’s Bakeshop – Since we were only in Memphis for one full day, we didn’t get to do as much exploring as we would have liked, but we did find a few good spots to eat. Now if you are thinking that Memphis will compare to Nashville in the food arena, sadly I am here to burst that bubble for you. Nashville still edges out over Memphis with regards to food, but we did stumble upon this cute bakery that I loved. The cupcakes were good, but what really satisfied my sweet tooth was the individual “shots” of icing they served. I may love my sweets, but icing is my true weakness (I typically don’t even eat all the cake – I go straight for the icing). It was rich and buttery, and while I wanted to eat more, I could only get through half of one because I felt my teeth beginning to rot. LOL
2. Central BBQ – Ok, this one is all Stan unfortunately. I am not a BBQ lover, so I cannot give you my full recommendation on this place, but Stan raved about it. They make a signature dish called BBQ nachos which were quite decadent, but the true winner was the ribs (so Stan tells me). He may love food but is a tough critic often picking apart dishes that I think are delicious. However, he was almost silent the entire meal and then just finished his last rib and said “that was reallly good”. And I translate that to mean “holy cow, I would come here all the time if I could”. So if BBQ is your thing, Stan would recommend you check this place out. If it’s not, then come sit by me and I will share my cupcake with you. But not the icing.
