Blush is often an afterthought when it comes to makeup with the focus always being on eyes and lips. But blush is one of the makeup products that I will NEVER skip because it does so much for the face. It makes my face look healthier, more awake and overall completes my makeup look. When I think of Spring makeup, I think of soft colors that work to enhance one’s natural features. And in terms of blush tones, I love subtle pinks and peaches in the spring. I have gravitated more towards cream formulas over the years but I thought I would share a round-up of spring blush colors in both cream and powder formulations. And though the title says five, I decided to add a few more to this post because I loved too many to narrow it down to five. Ha!
8 Blushes To Try For Spring
1. Tarte Maneater Blush & Glow Cheek Plump in Pink
This is the only liquid blush in the group but it is one of my absolute favorite formulas so I had to include. And the color Pink is gorgeous. The formula is moisturizing and brings the most subtle freshness to the skin. Pigment is medium but can be built up to be closer to intense. It’s also designed to be a tad plumping which makes your skin look fresh, healthy and glowy. There isn’t any shimmer in it but it does have a slight radiance to it that makes the skin look amazing.
2. Pat McGrath Cheek Colour Balm in Paradise Peony
Most of the products I have tried from Pat McGrath are always intensely pigmented so I used a light hand when first trying this. The color went on richly but easily blended out and gave a really subtle tint to the cheeks. I was in love from the first use! I can swipe this right on without worrying I’m applying too much. This particular color is more peachy than pink and has a warmer undertone. The formula is very long wearing and has a slight glossy look to it without being sticky or tacky.
3. Merit Flush Balm Cream Blush in Stockholm
This is the newest blush addition to my collection and I absolutely love it! It’s the most sheer out of this entire group so I like it when I’m wearing a no makeup makeup look. It’s easy to just swipe on and go. It gives a transparent flush of color to the cheeks and feels so creamy on the skin. It dries down a bit so it’s not sticky but still makes the skin look healthy. This color Stockholm is spring perfection!! It’s the exact shade of pink I had been looking for and goes with almost any makeup look I wear with it.
4. RMS Beauty ReDimension Hydra Powder Blush in French Rose
My skin has gotten drier over the years so I have leaned more into cream formulas but there are still a few powder blushes that I love. The Hydra Blush from RMS Beauty is a wet powder formula that really nourishes the skin. It has a creamy texture that melts into the skin and has a slight blurring effect. This particular color is a shimmering rose that brings the perfect amount of flush to my cheeks.
5. Dior Backstage Rosy Glow Blush in 001 Pink
To be honest, the formula on this is ok but the color is why I included it. It’s a bit of a detour from the other shades in this post and even with the swatch looks strange. But on the face it is MAGIC! It’s gone viral a ton of times because of how deceiving it is in the package but how universally flattering it looks on a variety of skin tones. It’s a vibrant cool toned pink that transforms when it’s on the skin to a healthy bright flush. It makes my cheeks look like I just got in from the cold in the best possible way. I LOVE the color so much and out of all the shades I selected, this one gives my face the most life!
6. Gucci Luminous Matte Blush in Fresh Rose
While the name implies that it will be a pinky blush, the actual shade is closer to a warm pinky peach. The texture of this blush is one of the best powder formulas I’ve tried because it literally floats onto the skin and doesn’t leave a powdery finish. It’s very finely milled and blends effortlessly on the cheeks.
7. Hourglass Vanish Blush Stick in Sacred (discount code: MAREE)
This was one of my favorite cream blush formulas when my skin was tad more oily because it’s a drier formula but still blends easily. Though my skin is now on the drier side, it still is one of the best formulas so I definitely think these blush sticks are great for all skin types. This particular color is a vibrant rich color and delivers intense pigment. I use just two small dabs on my cheek and it gives plenty of color and blends out beautifully. It’s a creamy satin finish and incredibly long wearing.
8. Jones Road Beauty Lip and Cheek Stick in Bright Pink
This cream stick can be used on either the lips or cheeks but I primarily use it on my cheeks. It’s super creamy at first which makes it really easy to blend but dries down after a few minutes leaving a soft focus finish. This color is spring perfection and even though it looks very bright in the tube, it’s more subtle on the skin and makes my face look so bright and healthy! Especially if my complexion is looking extra dull or sallow, I will always reach for this blush to instantly revive my look.
